John Donahoo

Ralph was the first of our class to die in Vietnam.  His death echoed through all of us.

My first thought was the same as John pointed out in his comments about Ralph.  I will never forget when I heard of his death in Vietnam.  It was one of those shocking moments that stays with you all your life.  Ralph was such a sweet guy.  It broke my heart to see his life cut short at such a young age, but I was so thankful to have known him.  In a short time he made a lasting impression.

I didn't know Ralph as well as I would have liked. My strongest memory is that we were sitting side by side in Miss Matthews French class when word came over the speakers of President Kennedy's death. I visited the Vietnam Memorial this month and will post a picture in just a few moments. I try to visit his name on the wall when I'm in Washington.
